Position Summary

The Director of Learning and Development influences at the executive levels, manages staff, and leads cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement processes, systems, and programs for the career development and advancement of Marsden’s workforce. They design, plan, and lead the company’s engagement initiative, in partnership with Human Resources and executive leaders. They are the author and leader of Marsden’s learning and development and engagement strategies and the driving force behind our learning and engagement solutions. This role partners closely with leaders and decision-makers in Operations, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Marketing, and IT to align learning and development with the organization’s goals and strategies and in support of key initiatives. The position consults with and advises the executive team on learning solutions, governance, content development and delivery, solution evaluation, stakeholder and learner engagement, learning technology optimization and development of a learning culture. They support Marsden’s growth by building innovative learning and development programs that enable corporate and field employees to deliver results and prepare for the future of our business. They build and oversee Marsden’s program delivery capabilities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Assess the readiness of the workforce and identify the learning and development requirements for the company to realize its goals and objectives.
- Design and implement a learning and development strategy that aligns with the organization’s business plan and improves the organization’s capability to execute on strategy.
- Develop and deliver professional communications that generate interest, win sponsorship, and garner broad support for Marsden’s training programs, including presentations to the top levels of the organization.
- Directly or through staff, design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs and learning application support for all levels of employees.
- Support Marsden’s businesses, functions, and departments with training that improves the essential knowledge and skills required for effective job performance.
- Deliver high-quality and effective leadership development programs and experiences to support Marsden in growing a pipeline of capable leaders.
- Serve as the resident expert in learning and development, set quality standards for the company’s learning and development programs, evaluate program effectiveness, and advise on areas for improvement.
- Ensure high-quality, scalable learning solutions for diverse audiences along with learner experiences that create engagement in learning programs and solutions.
- Oversee the delivery of in-person, virtual, and technology-delivered training programs to uphold quality standards and ensure expected outcomes.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure training programs are relevant and impactful.
- Ensure all mandatory compliance training is conducted and documented in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Stay current on trends and best practices in learning and development and engagement to continuously improve Marsden’s offerings.
- Partner and consult with Human Resources and the executive levels to develop a robust engagement strategy and execution plan.
- Evaluate and recommend options for measuring and improving employee engagement, as a key contributor to individual, team, and company performance.
- Lead the engagement initiative to measure and improve employee engagement, year-over-year, with the goal of achieving and sustaining top quartile engagement levels.
- Coach and advise leaders and teams in executing strategies and action plans for increasing employee engagement.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Education or related field highly preferred
- 10+ years designing, developing, and delivering learning programs
- Must have demonstrated ability to successfully lead and direct a team
- Demonstrated success in installing successful learning programs across an Enterprise
- Progressive training delivery and facilitation experience
- Intermediate to Advanced Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications
- Technical aptitude; comfort with data, systems, and applications
- Experience working in a decentralized, multi-state organization
- Experience with employee engagement strategies and tactics preferred.
