Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Training Facilitator to develop and deliver engaging courses and workshops across the North Slope region. This role involves direct instruction, cooperative learning, and interactive computer-based teaching methods. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the professional growth of individuals and organizations by providing high-quality training and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses including Construction Skills and Industry Trainings such as First Aid, Respirator Training, and OSHA classes.
- Manage all aspects of training schedules, including curriculum development, location arrangements, scheduling, trainer selection, and marketing efforts.
- Advocate for education and training programs that address the human resource needs of employers in the North Slope region.
- Prepare, maintain, and update instructional materials, course information, curricula, and other relevant documentation.
- Monitor course expenditures and handle payments to contractors, consultants, and adjunct instructors.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and grant performance.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with local organizations and employers to design and implement training projects that address their needs.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of training needs through surveys, frequent contacts, and relationship-building efforts.
- Gather and analyze data to provide relevant training and workshops that foster economic development throughout the North Slope.
- Recruit and manage instructors and students, and schedule individual training sessions.
- Maintain a roster of trainers and organizations offering workshops to meet client needs.
- Collaborate with Workforce Development, Marketing, Student Services, and other stakeholders.
- Explore and implement innovative teaching approaches in a multicultural setting.
- Serve as an advisor and training coach, overseeing evaluations of workshops and trainer performance.
- Participate in faculty recruitment, student orientation, and various college activities.
- Engage in professional development and contribute to program assessments.
- Travel frequently, including to remote locations, to conduct training and needs assessments.
- Actively participate in community service and college committees.
- Occasionally teach college-level courses related to grant programs as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Education, Management, or a related field, or relevant industry credentials.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Proven experience in teaching or training in a corporate or post-secondary environment.
- Experience working with organizations to identify and address training needs.
- Knowledge of small business marketing, sales, advertising, and management.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Experience working independently in a rural or isolated setting.
- Willingness to travel, including flying to remote locations.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen if required.
Preferred
- Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Education, or a related field.
- Experience in an Alaska Native environment.
- Knowledge of post-secondary educational systems and Iñupiat culture, values, and traditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, and drive.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
