The Training Manager, Security & Network Transformation will be responsible for managing a team of training and instructional designers and training specialists who develop and implement comprehensive training to enhance faculty, staff, and student adoption of new technologies or technology-related processes. This will include performing training needs assessments, building training curriculums, role-based training programs, applying blended learning approaches, and that training initiatives are aligned with and integrated seamlessly into the overarching security and network transformation program, ensuring the successful delivery of these programs, while measuring training effectiveness.
The Training Manager, Security & Network Transformation will be responsible for ensuring smooth transitions for university employees during current-to-future state technology transformations (e.g., system changes, software/hardware enhancements, etc.). The Training Manager, Security & Network Transformation will play a key role in overseeing training initiatives that support employees in effectively utilizing IT applications, systems, and services during organizational changes as well as steady-state operations, and will ensure that training programs are aligned with the university's broader IT strategy as well as customer needs. The Training Manager, Security & Network Transformation will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively adopt improvements and changes to technology and business processes in service of the institution's academic mission. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology training services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. Salary & Compensation
- UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications
- Five years experience working in one or more of the following fields: training, organizational change management, strategic communications, information technology, or another related field. (Required)
- Two years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. (Required)
- Significant experience in instructional design, training program management, or a related role in an educational or technology-driven environment, with a focus on security and network technologies. (Required)
- Significant experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (Required)
- Extensive experience solving technical and non-technical problems; able to delegate solutioning when appropriate to the proper resources. (Required)
- Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
- Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
- Demonstrated success in leading teams, with experience in managing and developing a team of training specialists and/or instructional designers. (Required)
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, trends, and research in instructional design, training methodologies, and educational technology, with a focus on transition support. (Required)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, network architecture, and related technologies. (Required)
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentorship, negotiation, and change management. Motivates and inspires team members to improve business relationships. Models solid customer service skills. (Required)
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to medium-sized teams. Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)
- Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities. (Required)
- Able to lead data gathering efforts seeking information from multiple and diverse sources. Experience operating as a point of escalation. Demonstrated understanding of how decisions affect teams. Demonstrated ability to make decisions with integrity. (Required)
- Inspires creativity in others and advises teams on industry-leading practices, such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Has demonstrated experience leading in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. (Required)
