Position Summary:
The People and Culture Generalist at the New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of company strategies and objectives. The People and Culture Generalist will foster a healthy workplace by ensuring HR procedures run smoothly at all times. Additionally, this role will strategically partner with hiring managers to ensure HR priorities align with the organization’s goals and objectives, focusing on recruiting, pre-boarding, onboarding, offboarding, compliance, benefits administration, leave of absence management, worker's compensation, and employee transitions . The People and Culture Generalist will have opportunities for professional development through SHRM, IEDC, and other organizations. This role will be vital to NOLABA’s growth, evolving with the organization's needs over the next few years.
This is a Monday-Friday onsite position for the first 90 days, followed by a hybrid position with onsite days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and remote on Tuesdays and Fridays. The office is located at 1250 Poydras Street, Suite 2150, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70113.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Hiring and Recruitment:
- Develop and write job descriptions and postings.
- Source and recruit candidates by using databases, social media, and other platforms.
- Manage the hiring process including screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
Onboarding:
- Prepare new hires by providing orientation to company culture and workflow.
- Conduct onboarding sessions and ensure seamless integration into the organization.
Training:
- Develop and implement training programs.
- Ensure employees understand company policies, procedures, and expectations.
Performance Management:
- Communicate and clarify job responsibilities, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Manage employee performance appraisal systems.
- Create and implement a regular employee review cadence.
Employee Relations:
- Maintain positive relationships with employees.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Handle employee grievances, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and termination procedures.
Compliance:
- Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Ensure employee leave policies are up-to-date and communicated to employees.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain and report on workplace health and safety compliance.
- Complete Employee Handbook updates as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Oversee and manage employee compensation and benefits programs.
- Conduct salary reviews and manage benefits administration.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years HR experience required.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Nonprofit organization experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and labor legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary of $70,000 - $80,000 annually.
