About the role:
The Group Benefits Specialist position is a hybrid role that sits in our clients headquarters location northwest of downtown Dallas, Texas. This role has primary responsibility for acting on behalf of the client to proactively review employee disability benefits, addressing questions, concerns and responding to complex claim and pay issues, including collaborating with the client’s internal resources and partnering with benefits vendors to identify root causes, find solutions and make corrective action recommendations to achieve customer expectations for resolution.
Core Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Acts as subject matter expert and the primary contact for employees in handling day-to-day inquiries regarding all aspects of client’s disability benefit plans including managing and responding to concerns, claims, and pay issues employee in a timely and effective manner that is consistent with client’s employee-centric culture.
- Educates employees in efficient planning, selection, and utilization of disability benefits through written communication, meetings, and one-to-one individualized assistance.
- Assists with the implementation and monitoring of administrative procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Make sound recommendations based upon subject matter expertise.
- Analyzes data and leverages daily reports to identify basic issues and procedural incompatibilities, identifies solutions and partners to ensure resolution.
- Partners with Absence Management/Payroll Teams to provide excellent service and problem resolution for the client’s employees.
- Supports and delivers eligibility processing for long term disability claims.
- Supports the semi-monthly payroll process, by adding disability payments to the benefits files often with short turnaround times and frequently changing data.
- Presents disability plan information to the client’s employees and leaders through group meetings or during Annual Enrollment.
Skills needed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or equivalent in work experience required
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar benefits administration role, with disability expertise at comparable level reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; prior disability payroll experience preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of disability benefit plans and demonstrated understanding in the administration of STD/LTD processes and programs required; Demonstrated experience in administering disability programs to large corporate disability populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to understand and ability to resolve complex issues
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent client service to business unit leaders and teammates
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 to include proficiency with Excel; experience with SAP, Workday and Salesforce would be ideal.
