Canon is currently hiring a Benefits Specialist in New York, NY. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience in benefits and leave administration (FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD).
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Serves as primary contact to all company employees for any benefit-related inquiries.
· Provide expertise on CBPS benefit programs, leave, disability, and accommodations.
· Handles leave administration process from initial notification through return to work.
· Requests certifications and required medical paperwork to determine leave eligibility.
· Ensure employees are aware of leave expectations and qualification criteria
· Maintain communication throughout the leave period and facilitate return to work.
· Provide updates to managers throughout the leave and return to work expectations.
· Facilitate leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
· Provide guidance to Regional HR on leave and disability laws and procedures.
· Research issues involving benefit eligibility, enrollment, and payroll deduction errors.
· Facilitates interactive discussions for ADA accommodation requests.
· Manages direct billing and salary continuation benefits for employees on leave.
· Maintain knowledge of state and federal laws regarding benefits, leave, and ADA
· Responsible for the reconciliation and payment of all benefit vendor fees and invoices.
· Prepares benefit communications and annual open enrollment material
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge required
· 2 years of Benefits and Leave Administration experience
· Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA regulations
· Experience with state and federal laws pertaining to leave and benefitsl
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel
· Knowledge of HRIS systems preferred
· Highly motivated self-starter with excellent oral & written communication skills
