How You'll Make a Difference:
Arkos Health is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will process the organization’s multi-state payroll via Justworks PEO (Professional Employer Organization) while assigning journal entries to payroll expenses. The Payroll Specialist will ensure accuracy and compliance with all processing and reporting, and serve as back up to the Payroll Director.
**This is a remote position. We are seeking remote applicants, preferably in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, or any state except California, Colorado, New Jersey, New York, and Washington.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes bi-weekly payroll, along with supplemental payments and reimbursements an organization consisting of over 500 employees across multiple states via our PEO
- Reviews timesheet /time off submissions and works with managers to address issues or concerns
- Ensures timely processing of final pay for terminated employees within state regulatory guidelines
- Enters, maintains and audits employee data in the payroll and timecard platforms
- Monitors payroll email and responds promptly to manager or employee inquiries in a confidential, accurate, and cordial manner
- Assists with executive report requests, company acquisitions, or other projects, as needed
- Assists with coordination of opening new state SUTA, WC, or other state accounts as necessary
- Maintains accurate payroll documentation and records, and audits tax reporting data while staying up to date with payroll laws
- Assists with all quarterly and year end tasks
- Assigns and maintains GL mapping data in the HRIS and accounting systems
- Participates in expense report auditing for proper documentation and classification
- Prepares bi-weekly analysis, account reconciliations and month end accruals, as required
- Assists with collecting data for internal/external payroll, tax, benefits, and compliance audits
- Reconciles and records payroll entries for the general ledger
- Monitors wage and hour regulations and facilitates discussions with finance and HR leadership to ensure compliance
- Completes verifications of employment
- Assists with company-wide open enrollment
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate degree in accounting, Finance, or Payroll related degree
- Five years payroll experience in a fast-paced, high volume, multi-entity organization
- Experience converting payroll data into GL data
- Strong multi-state tax and payroll compliance knowledge
- Experience using web-based, direct deposit payroll software
- Proficiency in Excel
- Strong ability to self-manage time to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
