The Benefits Specialist will manage the day-to-day administration of various employee benefit plans, such as life, health, dental, vision, disability insurance, leave management plans and retirement plans. Work closely with both local HR and corporate payroll to ensure complete linkage between benefits and payroll.
Key Responsibility:
- Acts as a primary contact to address and resolve employee benefit inquiries in a timely and complete manner.
- Ensures compliance and accuracy of benefit program enrollments/deductions in by verifying employee benefit eligibility, reviewing/approving enrollments, life event changes, processing medical support orders, canceling, or ensuring enrollment of employees affected by status changes, monitors payroll deductions and reconciles discrepancies.
- Responsible for vendor invoicing, ensuring contract terms are aligned and payments are made on time.
- Responsible for conducting audits of benefit file feeds to ensure accuracy and completeness of data, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Provides support during Open Enrollment including coordinating with external benefits broker, activity timelines, training, and communications materials.
- Handles day-to-day leave of absence processing, manages PLZ’s disability vendor and coordinates changes with payroll team. Maintains effective and proactive communications with local site HR team members.
- Administer and manage all aspects of the company's 401(k) plan, including enrollment, contributions, and compliance.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned within benefits as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Finance or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration.
- Experience working with FMLA, ADA, Affordable Care Act (ACA), federal and state laws regarding benefits (i.e., COBRA, ERISA, Section 125), strong knowledge of health and welfare benefits.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency Excel.
- UKG experience a plus.
- PlanSource experience a plus.
- Attention to detail – Diligently pays attention to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Professional skills and Knowledge - Knowledge of job duties, latest technologies and processes used in field. Operates ethically and with integrity that is consistent with PLZ Core Values
