Job Description
The Benefit Specialist plays a crucial role in managing employee benefits programs within the organization. They are responsible for assisting employees with understanding their benefits packages, facilitating enrollment processes, and addressing inquiries related to benefits. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of employee benefits programs.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer all aspects of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave of absence, and dependent verification
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries, clarifications, and issue resolution
- Ensure accurate and timely enrollment, changes, and termination of benefits for employees
- Maintain accurate records of employee benefit elections, changes, and eligibility status using HRIS (Human Resources Information System) or other designated software platforms
- Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits, such as ACA, HIPAA, and FMLA, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws
- Coordinate with benefit providers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and ensure smooth administration of benefits programs
- Assist in conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of benefits data and processes
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to develop and conduct informational sessions, workshops, and training programs to educate employees about available benefits options, eligibility criteria, and coverage details
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in benefits administration, HR, or a related role
- Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in HRIS or other relevant software applications
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations governing employee benefits
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Working Environment
Currently, S&S has a remote work policy which provides for employees to be in the office Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is subject to change based on business need. Position location: Bolingbrook, IL.
