UBA is seeking an employee benefits professional who can understand the needs of our employee benefit advisory Partner Firms and to better develop deep, long lasting-relationships that benefit our Carrier Alliances.
The Director of Alliance Relations is responsible for improving the UBA value to UBA Partner Firms and Alliances across the nation by negotiating, executing and managing agreements with our Carrier Alliances and Solution Alliances that encourage UBA Partner Firms to work with all Alliances through exclusive benefits. Working with an internal team and committees from the partnership, this individual will support initiatives designed to bring innovative solutions to Partner Firms and help UBA Partner Firms better serve their clients.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and grow relationships with the UBA Carrier Alliances and the Alliances for UBA's Exclusive Programs, including a captive, level-funded programs and stop loss coalitions:
- Participate in negotiations with Carrier and self-funding related Alliances to create exclusive programs and offerings for UBA Partner Firms.
- Maintain, track, and ensure agreements with the UBA Alliances are accurate, up- to- date, and fulfilled.
- Educate UBA Partner Firms on the offerings and value of the UBA Carrier and self-funding Alliances and exclusive programs.
- Onboard new Alliances, as needed.
- Collect and track data on UBA Partner Firms' use of Carrier and self-funding Alliances and exclusive programs and achieve growth goals.
- Serve as the UBA corporate team lead in supporting the UBA Carrier Alliance Committee which is comprised of employee benefit advisors from UBA Partner Firms and whose mission is to develop strong, long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with Carrier Alliances.
- Coordinate and participate as needed in quarterly calls with UBA Carrier Alliances and manage applicable follow-up.
- Serve as the UBA corporate team lead in supporting UBA's Self-Funding Committee, which is comprised of self-funding employee benefits advisors across the country and focused on providing education and exclusive programs to UBA Partner Firms.
- Serve as the UBA corporate team lead in supporting a Self-Funding Collaboration Group that meets virtually every month and in person at all 3 of UBA's annual conferences to share self-funding strategies, solutions, and challenges.
- Guide the Manager of Solution Alliance Relations to grow and manage our Solution Alliance programs
- Make recommendations to committees on opportunities with solution providers that may benefit Partner Firms and their clients
- Stay abreast of industry trends and vendors through research and participation in industry events
- Conduct interviews of interested external vendors as part of the initial vetting process
- Ensure the maintenance of a database of solution providers in the employee benefit space for potential vetting
- Ensure there is appropriate and timely communication and launch of new product and service provider "Alliances" selected by the Committees.
- Lead the team in securing sponsorships from UBA Alliances for UBA Conferences and Academies and ensure proper tracking and fulfillment of those sponsorships
- Lead the team to ensure there is appropriate and up-to-date reporting to monitor adoption and assess satisfaction of UBA Alliances by Partner Firms.
- Guide the marketing department to develop campaigns to promote UBA Alliances and Exclusive Programs to UBA Partner Firms.
- Conduct outreach to select UBA Partner Firms to better understand their needs and encourage their engagement with UBA Alliances and in UBA exclusive programs.
- Ensure the coordination of the speakers, content, and logistics for Alliance and self-funding sessions at UBA Conferences and webinars.
- Conduct quarterly outreach to select Partner Firms to support and encourage their engagement.
- Manage, support, grow and encourage the Manager of Solution Alliance Relations, the Coordinator of Alliance Programs, and the Manager of Collaboration and Education
- Manage ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least 5-10 years' experience in the employee benefits industry preferably at a brokerage firm or insurance carrier, and including specific self-funding experience.
- Active Life and Health license preferred.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Outstanding written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility in duties and responsibilities and a keen sense of prioritization.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office 365, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Significant attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong ability to learn technology/software
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Willingness and ability to travel to conferences 2-3 times per year, which may include evening and weekend work.
