Position Summary
The HR Coordinator contributes to programs that enhance employee engagement and belonging within the Girls on the Run organization. Serving as a first point of contact for applicants, employees, and Girls on the Run councils, the HR Coordinator plays an impactful role in creating a positive and helpful HR experience. This position supports a variety of HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, benefits and payroll, employee engagement and offboarding. The HR Coordinator will also help to support innovative programs that promote the organization’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA).
The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
General HR Support
- Serve as first point of contact for employee HR-related questions, referring to other HR team members as needed
- Write informative staff-related communications
- Offer support in key stages of the employee life cycle including:
- Onboarding
- Employee engagement and surveys
- Offboarding
- Support logistics of GOTR’s benefits program including:
- Researching new potential benefits, vendors and programs
- 401k distribution management and education
- Managing employee enrollments and enrollment communications
- Preparing annual total compensation statements
- Contribute to departmental initiatives to support council HR operations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by being familiar with existing and new legislation
Recruiting
- Steward hiring teams throughout the recruitment process including managing communications and the creation of recruitment materials, including job descriptions, interview questions, scheduling links, and assessment materials
- Manage job postings and research new networks or posting sites to drive visibility
- Create an engaging and high-touch candidate experience that exemplifies GOTR’s core values and motivates interest in Girls on the Run
- Conduct phone screens and candidate assessments
- Coordinate recruiting logistics, including candidate communication, interview scheduling, travel arrangements (when needed) and sending final offers
- Conduct reference checks and background checks
Employee Engagement & Trainings
- Support virtual and in-person organizational events and trainings for staff, including researching creative new ways of connecting as well as the tactical support of coordination, logistics, vendor management, budget management and communication
- As needed, create HR-related educational materials or trainings for staff
- Serve as an advisor to and participate in the organization’s Culture Committee, helping to plan and organize the organization’s internal events and social calendar
- Maintain the Organizational Calendar
- Identify opportunities to increase employee engagement and satisfaction
- Work collaboratively with departments and leadership to develop innovative and measurable solutions to create a more inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible organization
- Update various HR-related resource pages
Admin & Data Management
- Process staff data changes such as pay increases and benefit changes in payroll system and applicable vendor sites in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintain accurate and updated electronic personnel file records
- Manage time off accruals, tracking, and reports
- Update employee directory and organizational chart
- Maintain dashboards related to employee compliance, including but not limited to background checks, training requirements, and performance management
- Maintain online database of resources, documents and materials
- Provide employee-related information and reporting as needed

- While this position is remote, residency in or around Charlotte, NC is preferred to support event coordination. Girls on the Run strives to provide our staff with opportunities for meaningful in-person connection throughout the year including staff gatherings, professional development opportunities and organization-wide conferences. Employees are always encouraged, and in occasional instances required, to participate in and contribute to these events.
Qualities & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of HR or people operations experience
- Working knowledge of employment legislation and compliance requirements, HR policies, and best practices in a multistate environment
- Experience with implementing HR policies and programs
- Organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at a time and deliver within deadlines
- Flexible and resourceful problem-solver
- Proactive initiative and self-motivation, taking ownership of tasks and projects from inception to completion.
- High degree of respect for the confidentiality and sensitivity of HR and payroll data
- Strong customer service skills with excellent follow-up and follow-through
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

This is a non-exempt, full-time position at 40 hours per week, offering a compensation range of $21 - $23 per hour, depending on experience.
